Alan and I met at Newcastle University, where we were introduced by a mutual friend. Our mutual love of adventure, travel and fun connected us from that first day. 7 years later, on a truly unforgettable holiday in Cuba, Alan plucked up the courage to propose.
We were enjoying the beautiful sunset during a walk on the beach when we took a seat to soak in the view. Alan took a big breath and blurted out ‘I really want to marry you!’. We had often spoke about ‘when we get married’ so when he finally asked I was utterly sunned and just kept saying, ‘are you being serious’, obviously through tears of joy!
“With the wedding planned for 5 months time, I had to get cracking with choosing ‘the one’. I’d never looked at dresses prior to the engagement so I was totally overwhelmed. I tried so many on, all different styles and details and loved them all. I eventually chose my lacy pearl fit and flair Maggie Sottero gown. I loved the understated detail and the rich champagne under layer.”
“We always knew we wanted to get married in the North East as it is such a special place for us. I had noticed Le Petit Chateau on Facebook and fell in love with the ceremony room and gardens. I knew the Chateau was the one as soon as I saw it. Alan didn’t even see it before we put our deposit down. Time was of the essence.
Le Petit Chateau assigns every couple a dedicated wedding coordinator who goes through the whole planning processes together. The service of the staff is second to none and the food and drinks are just delicious. We loved the venue and had so many complements from our friends and family on how special the place was.”
“We wanted a fun, natural photographer who we felt could capture the day accurately and get photographs we could look back on fondly. Katy was recommended to us by a couple of wedding suppliers in Newcastle and we were delighted when we learned she was available
My top tip for other brides regarding photography is not to go for the cheapest option. Remember that your photographs are going to capture your most precious memories from one of the best days of your life – so make sure you hire someone who is going to do the best possible job of capturing them.
We were so pleased how Katy managed to capture the vibe of the day and we will look back on our images with a smile every time we take out the album. We couldn’t recommend Katy highly enough and our guests remarked upon how lovely she was on the day too.”
Details & Styling
“With the wedding being in Spring, I wanted my colours to be inspired by nature. I was keen to have plenty of greenery dotted throughout the day, punched with crisp whites and pinks. Pretty much everything was DIY. I pulled on my most creative and arty friends to help me create the little details such as the invitations, flower garland and table plan.”
“Focus on having your closest friends and family around you and making it the best party ever. The decorations are lovely and create the setting for the day, but don’t lose sight of the day being all about love and celebration!”
