the proposal...

Steven proposed on my birthday in our home. After waking up that morning, he had quickly ushered me downstairs to open my birthday presents.

After opening them all he handed me a bunch of my favourite flowers and a final present,  a ‘love book’ titled “Because I love you”. I read through all the personalised pages he’d made of  the things we love doing together, and the reasons why he loves me.

On the final page it said, will you marry me?! When I looked up from the book he was down on one knee. There were a lot of tears.

The

Dress

“I found my dream dress a year before the wedding. I took my mum, mother in law to be and my maid of honour with me.

We planned to visit several places, but after my 10th dress in the first boutique we visited (Victoria Robson Bridal), I just knew it was The One! It was not a dress styleI had intended to try, but one that Victoria chose for me and it was perfect!

We had another dress appointment arranged for straight after, but we all knew nothing matched up to that dress. We ended up back at Victoria’s the same day to put a deposit down.

The

Venue

“We have visited Ramside Hall several times before for occasions and spa breaks. We knew we loved the venue so we attended a couple of the evening wedding showcases to see the rooms dressed and to meet other suppliers..

After visiting a few other venues and wedding fayres, Ramside was our clear favourite.

It fit all of our requirements; we wanted somewhere fairly local so all of our family could be there. We had decided we really wanted a marquee for the reception, and the summer marquee at Ramside was perfect for space, layout and our guest numbers. Plus there was a private patio area in the gardens for us to use.

The wedding co-ordinators at Ramside Hall were great. They quickly answered every little query we had, were really organised and helped make the lead up to the day stress free.

The

Photography

“We met Graham & Bridgit from ‘And Ever After Photography’ at the North East Brides wedding show at the Northern Echo Arena. We loved their friendly bubbly personalities, their style of photography and their previous work really stood out to us.

We had a pre-wedding photo shoot, which is a must do! It allowed us both to get a feel of what to expect on the big day and to see how Graham and Bridgit worked with us. We were both quite anxious leading up to it, but they made it so easy and it flowed really well.

On the wedding day they did an exceptional job! We loved so much about them; they were a joy to have around and fitted in to our day so well. We loved  their attention to detail and how much they cared about us having the best day possible, and the photos to match.

When it comes to choosing a wedding photography, I’d recommend you don’t rush into making a decision too quickly. Take the time to choose someone you get along with and are comfortable around. We felt it was one of the most important decisions during our planning as you put a lot of trust in your photographer.”

Details & Styling

“We wanted to go with a romantic rustic theme. The colour palette in mind was ivory, green and suede rose. We wanted lots of greenery, candles and fairy lights in the marquee. Pinterest was brilliant for getting my styling ideas.

Our wedding flowers were provided by Fleur Maison in Middlesbrough. The bouquets were loose and floaty including; eucalyptus, viburnum, mentha jack lilac, Lisianthus,  white veronicas and astible, with ivory and lilac roses. We had smaller versions as our table centrepieces.

Very Eventful styled the hanging wisteria behind the top table and candles and eucalyptus running the length of the table.

Top Tip

“Don’t stress about the possibility of things not going exactly how you planned,, having everyone you love the most celebrating the day with you is what makes it perfect. Oh, and although you may not fancy anything, make sure you eat some breakfast!”
